Introducing the individuals who form our Board of Directors. They guide our efforts to strengthen and uplift our community by leveraging their diverse expertise, passion, and commitment to philanthropy.
Jacquie Brand has worked for or volunteered with non-profit organizations for 25 years, loving the different roles that she has had the opportunity to play within our community and throughout the province. Her past non-profit experience includes being a part of Volunteer Kamloops, Women’s Resource Society and BC Living Arts boards; most notably, she held the position of General Manager of the Kamloops Arts Council for 10 years. Currently, Jacquie is the Director of Programs for the YMCA-YWCA’s Violence Against Women Intervention & Support Services. She has a deep appreciation for the non-profit world and for those they support & is also currently enjoying her volunteering with Kamloops Ruff Start Rescue Society.
Greg Peace has been a Mortgage Consultant for 17 years. He is a partner with a local firm, Mortgage Alliance. Greg currently volunteers with Kamloops West Rotary as well as Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association(CASARA). The father of two amazing children, a 20-year-old daughter and an 17-year-old son, Greg enjoys the outdoors – camping, hunting and dirt biking as well as watching his children play sports. Greg is currently serving on the investment committee.
Jeff Carter grew up in Alberta around the Edmonton Area. He graduated from the University of Calgary in 2016 after which time he moved to Kamloops where he joined Daley & Company LLP (now Grant Thornton LLP) to article for the CPA designation. He spent most of his first 4 years in Kamloops committing his time to work and the CPA education which he obtained in 2020. Since that time Jeff has continued to work as a Manager at Grant Thornton LLP and stepped into the role of Treasurer for the BC Interior Community Foundation in November of 2021. He hopes to help the Foundation grow into the future and achieve its goals of providing sustainable funds for good causes in the community he now calls home. In his spare time Jeff enjoys playing and watching sports, particularly the incredible golf Interior BC has to offer.
Stephanie has spent all of her life in the BC Interior. She has lived in Penticton, Terrace, and Prince George. In 2013 she moved to Kamloops to attend law school at Thompson Rivers University. After graduating she returned to Prince George before being called back to Kamloops in 2020. Stephanie is a senior associate lawyer with Fulton & Company LLP with a practice focusing on business and real estate law. Outside of work Stephanie enjoys spending time outdoors with her spouse Graeme and dog Morris exploring the endless trail networks around Kamloops, cooking, and gardening.
Rob grew up in the Nicola Valley and has been a part of the business community from a very young age. He has been in Kamloops for over 15 years working as a commercial insurance broker. As the Managing Partner of Wilson M Beck Insurance Services (Kamloops) Inc, he is very proud to be an active part of our community and honoured to be a member of the BCICF Board of Directors.
Hugh’s school days were spent in Toronto after which he obtained a degree in agriculture from McGill University in Montreal. His first employment was with Pfizer’s Agricultural Division in the northern parts of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Four years later brought him to Cariboo College (now TRU) where he developed an agriculture diploma program which he taught for four years. At the same time, he purchased land in the Monte Creek area and began to develop a cattle ranch. Full time ranching occupied his life for the next 24 years. During this time he also volunteered as a Board member for industry organizations serving two years as President of a livestock marketing firm with sales of one hundred ninety million dollars. In 2000 Hugh returned to the workforce as General Manager of a not-for-profit livestock industry owned company with a staff of up to 40. The company administers the Livestock Identification Act and Regulations on behalf of the Province. During retirement, some of his time is devoted to helping the BC Interior Community Foundation grow.
Darlene was born in Kamloops and raised her family here. She has an extensive background in accounting and several decades of successful small business entrepreneurship. She retired in 2016. Darlene has been a wonderful help in the office with updating our filing system.
Franca moved to Kamloops in 2016, having spent most of her life in Northern BC and the Yukon, she loves the Kamloops climate! Franca has extensive skills in business growth, market research, negotiations and program development and management in various professional sectors; non-profit, government and industry. Although she is new to the BCICF board, she has sat on the granting committee for the past two years. When Franca is not working or traveling for work, you will find her ‘out and about’ partaking in one of the many activities she enjoys.
Karl grew up in Germany in a family engaged in both farming and industrial ventures and with that developed a taste for entrepreneurship early on in life. After schooling, he moved to British Columbia in 1974 to work in a family-owned Ranching operation before eventually settling in Kamloops in 1981 to take over management and then part ownership of a Transport Company. After selling same in 1994, the next almost twenty-five-plus years have been spent developing and owning several successful businesses in the service, education, Real Estate and financing field. Now in semi-retirement, he spends most of his time looking after various real estate holdings both in Canada and overseas. After some years as a single dad following the death of his first wife Anne, Karl is now happily married to Kim, a recently retired TRU professor and independent business owner. They enjoy their blended family of three children. Their youngest one is currently still at University. Karl has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Kamloops for 20 + years and has held many positions on the board as well as having been the club president. He has also served on Strata Councils and been active as a business coach during his years spent in the finance Industry. He is proud to put his extensive business and management experience to work as a member of the BCICF Board.
Yvette grew up in Northern BC and moved to Kamloops, with her family, in 2003. She is the Associate Vice-President, Finance at Thompson Rivers University and has volunteered with several local non-profit organizations over the past 20 years.
Yvette is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) with a Graduate Certificate in Leadership (Royal Roads University). She is new to the BC Interior Community Foundation and looks forward to the opportunity to volunteer with an organization that supports the community she is proud to live, work, and play in.
Terri has lived and worked in Kamloops for 44 years, where she raised her four children. She is currently enjoying retirement from the Corrections Branch after a 25-year career serving as a Correctional Officer, Supervisor, and Assistant Deputy Warden. Terri has a strong work ethic and was recognized for her excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Passionate and committed to promoting inclusion, equity, and excellence for all people, Terri, along with her wife Vessy, loves to be involved in organizations that provide support and opportunities in their community. Terri has a long history of volunteering and fundraising in the community, having served on the boards at the Phoenix Center and with Kamloops Pride. She has also been involved with a strata council.
Terri has an extensive history of fundraising for women’s cancer research, the Y Women’s Emergency Shelter, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and numerous local sports events and organizations. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her seven grandchildren, family, and friends, enjoying many of the outdoor activities Kamloops has to offer, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, paddling, and golf.
Greg is a retired geological engineer who has made his home in Kamloops for 40 years. He has been a Foundation member since the early 1990s, and has served in a variety of Board roles including director, recording secretary, president and past president. He has previously served on the Granting, Governance, and Investment Committees. His other long-term volunteer interests include doing maintenance out at Camp Grafton and helping with Rotary Club projects.
