What we do.
Our Fund Types
We offer several types of charitable funds to facilitate your giving. We are available to discuss these options with you and help you select one that best meets your needs.
Community and Community Smart and Caring Funds
Our Smart and Caring Funds, fueled by donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations, address current community needs through grants supporting local charitable organizations. Any donation to these funds, regardless of the amount, provides maximum flexibility for our Foundation and/or the municipality to issue grants.
Student Award Fund
Student Award Funds are set up to enable the making of scholarships or bursaries to enable a student to pursue his or her education. The donor can stipulate the criteria, educational institution and/or preferred field of study of the recipient. Grants are directed to and administered by the qualified donee, typically the educational institution.
Field of Interest Fund
Field of Interest Funds work much like our Community Funds, except that donors identify a particular area of interest that they would like to direct their support. Some examples include the arts, heritage, environment, health, seniors, children and youth, recreation or education. With these funds, you define the area of interest but empower the Foundation’s Grantmaking Committee to select worthwhile projects to support.
BCICF Operations Fund
A donation to our Operating Endowment Fund helps to cover the costs of running BC Interior Community Foundation. This fund is critical to the ongoing success of our organization.
Charitable Organization Endowment Fund
Charitable Organization Endowment Funds are set up and administered by the Foundation on behalf of other registered charities. This allows the recipient charity the freedom from investment responsibility and gives donors the confidence of knowing that a permanent foundation is in place to professionally administer the charity’s endowment. Once established, the charity can encourage their donors to contribute to their endowment fund.
Donor-Advised Fund
A Donor-Advised Fund enables you to have ongoing participation in the selection of charities that will benefit from your gift. Donors may choose this type of fund instead of creating a family trust or private foundation.
Designated Fund
A Designated Fund gives you the opportunity to specify, at the time the fund is established, which particular charity or charities you would like to support in perpetuity. If the organization(s) ceases to exist, the grant(s) can be redirected to a similar cause.
How You Can Help
Your contribution, large or small, lives on in perpetuity to support the changing needs of your community. Your contribution is placed in a fund of your choice and only the earnings of the funds is awarded to charitable causes and projects.
