    The Pat Behe and Stan Bennett First Nations Education Fund Application

    Application - The Pat Behe and Stan Bennett First Nations Education Fund

    This scholarship was established to provide bursaries to First Nations students from the Nlaka’pamux and/or Secwepemc (Shuswap) Nations who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing post-secondary education. This bursary is awarded by the Behe-Bennett Family.

    Please note that when completing this application, all sections that are marked with a red asterisk (star) are required information. You will not be able to submit this form if there is missing information.

    Award:

    • Amount: Two annual awards of up to $1,500.
    • Selected by the BC Interior Community Foundation Scholarship Committee.
    • Deadlines:
      • April 30th
        Awarded by the end of June
      • October 1st
        Awarded by the end of October.
    • The successful applicant must claim the award by December 31st of the year awarded
    Eligibility:

    • Applicant must be a First Nations student from the Nlaka’pamux and/or Secwepemc (Shuswap) Nations. (Can be status or non-status.)
    • Applicant must have completed at least one term in the post-secondary program and have a GPA of 2.8 to 3.3. Proof of standing must be provided. (If there are no applicants meeting this criteria, then applicants with a higher standing may be considered.)
    • The applicant must exhibit financial need.
    • Preference will be given to students enrolled in a First Nations Education or First Nations
      Language and Cultural Program.
    • Applicants in Health Careers or Social Services will also be considered.
    • Preference will be given to a mature student.

    Criteria / Requirements

    • Completed Application form - incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
    • The applicant must provide a budget for their year of study.
    • The applicant must submit a note indicating:
      • Personal goals
      • Educational goals and plans for First Nations people
      • Involvement and interest in cultural activities
      • How they are involved in their language and culture.
