Created in honor of Denice Evelyn Marr (January 18, 1966 – December 8, 2017), this fund aims to grant two scholarships each year to eligible grade 12 graduates from SD #73, including one graduate from SKSS, who are pursuing a college or university program. Applicants must maintain a minimum B average and embody the qualities that Denice championed throughout her teaching career.
Denice was a seasoned and beloved high school educator. She taught at Barrier Secondary, Westsyde Secondary, Norkam Secondary, and South Kamloops Secondary School. Though she primarily taught Foods and Textiles, students and staff will remember her for her coaching and extra-curricular events that helped to bring character and cohesiveness to school life. Denice emphasized hard work, positive attitude, and community involvement (in and out of school) when she taught, the same attributes that she herself modelled throughout her life.
BCICF does not accept applications for this award; more information and an application form can be found on the SD #73 website: Please find application here. Further information about SD#73 Scholarships + Bursaries can be found here.
