Richard Albert Memorial Bursary
Fund Categories: Bursary
Fund Types: Student Award

The Richard “Rick” Alberts Memorial Bursary was established to honour the legacy of generosity and community spirit that defined Rick’s life. A passionate advocate for helping others, Rick believed in creating opportunities for those in need. Through this bursary, his commitment to supporting students will continue for generations to come.

Rick, a well-known Kamloops restaurateur and community volunteer, understood the power of a helping hand. His dedication to service was evident in initiatives like “Foody Fridays” at Mt. Paul Church, where he helped provide meals for those in need. He carried this same spirit of giving into his decision to leave a lasting impact through an endowed bursary with the BC Interior Community Foundation.

This bursary supports a School District #73 student pursuing studies at Thompson Rivers University (TRU), with a specific focus on helping students with financial need. Rick’s thoughtful bequest ensures that deserving students, who might otherwise struggle to afford post-secondary education, have the resources they need to pursue their academic dreams.

Rick’s legacy is a testament to the power of giving. Through this bursary, he is creating life-changing opportunities for students and ensuring that his kindness and generosity continue to make a difference.
