Ms. Junko Ikebuchi was an elementary school teacher in School District 73 in Kamloops.  She was a lifelong learner and world traveler.  Her life was spent educating herself and those around her about using the strengths that every individual possesses to the best of their ability, and about being open to the wonder and the interconnectedness of the world.

Having struggled herself to go to university and graduate school, she recognized the need for assistance for students pursuing post-secondary education.  When she came to Kamloops, she became very interested in First Nations language, local history and general anthropology.  Junko envisioned establishing a fund to support students studying the Secwepemc language and continuing their local First Nations’ traditions and customs.  Junko very much enjoyed her time spent in Kamloops with the faculty, staff & students and hoped others would be able to have learning experiences that were just as positive.
