A Legacy of Music

In their own words – Kamloops Music Collective on Music in Our Community.

Music has power.
Music has the power to impact a child’s life, bring a community together and change the way we see the world. Playing music promotes social skills and teaches kids how to work “harmoniously” in a group. It gives youth a sense of achievement and belonging, and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.
At Kamloops Music Collective programs, kids find more than music.

About the Kamloops Music Collective
The Kamloops Music Collective provides music youth aged 5-18 with the “key” to the development of artistic excellence in our community. Our program serves hundreds of young musicians in Kamloops. Participants in our programs benefit from professional guidance and mentorship. With a focus on performing and producing music for our community, the Kamloops Music Collective also strives to give young musicians the opportunity to network with like-minded friends. Our goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where students of all levels are encouraged to develop their love of music.

The Kamloops Music Collective is working hard to make an impact on the lives of young musicians in Kamloops. Thanks to support from our community, we have been able to expand our organization and offer meaningful, year-round programming to young musicians in our community. Legacy giving allows us to continue to grow in a sustainable way.

Our Work
The Kamloops Music Collective (KMC) is a year-round society that facilitates opportunities for music education, aimed at youth in our community. We have 5 main programs to fulfil our mandate:
● Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM), which is a 3-week music program that has been serving our community since 1978
● Whole Note, which serves restricted-income youth dedicated to the study of music
● BAND Together, a program designed to introduce grade 6&7 kids to high school concert band programs
● Set the Stage! a 1 week performing arts camp at spring break
● KMC Outreach, a program that tailors music education programs to meet the needs of our community.
The Kamloops Music Collective also has an established Financial Assistance program for at-risk and restricted income youth. This program has helped thousands of kids over the past 4 decades.

Your donation
Charitable gifts to the Kamloops Music Collective’s Legacy Fund will be held in perpetuity by the BC interior Communities Foundation. Income generated becomes an investment back into the youth in our community.
