The Kamloops Family Resource Society, known in the community as The Tree, has received a grant from the Cil Street Memorial Fund to support its work with children and families.
The Tree creates welcoming spaces, helps families access resources and support, and strengthens the connections that help communities thrive. Its work closely reflects the values that guided Cil Street throughout her life.
“Supporting The Tree feels like such a natural way to honour Cil,” said her sister, Terri Mochikas. Pictured on left beside The Tree executive director Susan Wright and Cely-Rae Street.
“Children and families were at the heart of her life and work, and we know this is something she would have loved.”

The grant comes during an especially difficult year for the organization, making the support feel particularly timely and heartfelt.
Cil dedicated 20 years of her life to elementary education and was deeply committed to children, learning, inclusion, and compassion. She worked closely with Indigenous children and families, advocated for women’s rights, and cared for many animals in need.
The Cil Street Memorial Fund was established by her daughters, Amanda and Cely-Rae, and her sisters, Terri Mochikas and Angie Peters. Over the past two years, they have worked with friends, family, and community members to grow the fund and strengthen its ability to give back.
Because the fund is endowed, the original gifts are invested and the income generated supports grants in Cil’s name year after year. It is a lasting way to carry forward the values she lived by while supporting organizations that make a difference in the community.
Through this grant to The Tree, Cil’s legacy continues to create care, connection, and opportunity for local children and families.
