Just like that, our Pop-Up Community Centre has officially come to a close and what an unforgettable journey it has been.
Throughout July, we transformed the grand foyer of the TNRD building into a vibrant space for connection, creativity, and community spirit. What started as a simple idea turned into something truly special, thanks to the many people who showed up with open minds, generous hearts, and a willingness to engage.
From hands-on workshops and live performances to thoughtful conversations and many moments of joy, each week brought something new and meaningful. Whether you stopped by for one afternoon or became a regular face in the crowd, you helped make the space feel welcoming and alive.

One of the many highlights was the colourful painted rock snake that came to life during the first half of the month, created by many community members young and old. With the help of Caleb, Conrad, and Clara Scorrar and some gentle guidance from Fearon Blair and Janis Anderson of the Xeriscape Kamloops Collective, the rock snake now has a new home in the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on Seymour Street. It stands as a lasting symbol of what this month was all about: collaboration, creativity, and community pride.
To everyone who participated, volunteered, facilitated, or simply came by to connect, thank you. You helped build something meaningful, and we’re so grateful for every moment.
We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors and supporters who made the Pop-Up Community Centre possible:
Castanet Kamloops Digital, Tourism Kamloops, City of Kamloops,The Rinaldi Investment Group, BMO Nesbitt Burns, BMO Private Wealth, Purity Feed Kamloops, Visual Signs and Printing, Indigenous Resurgence Project, Downtown Kamloops, Amplified Cafe, and the Helping Hand Fund held at our Foundation.
We’re also incredibly grateful to Thompson-Nicola Regional Library, Kamloops Art Gallery, and Thompson-Nicola Regional District for welcoming us into your space and supporting us throughout the month. We truly appreciate your kindness and flexibility.
This pop-up was a beautiful reflection of what’s possible when people come together. From all of us at the BC Interior Community Foundation, thank you for being a part of this journey. We can’t wait to see what we build together next.
